Lori Gates
Music Retail Accountant
Lori is a music retail accountant and consultant with the FKCo team. Lori joined FKCo in 2017 and handles the year-end accounting and tax compliance engagements for many of our music instrument & product retailing clients. Lori has had a long and varied accounting career, including over 20 years in the music retailing industry with extensive hands-on experience with AIM Music Retail Accounting Software.
Lori majored in Accounting and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Drake University. She earned her CPA license in 1983 and worked for the international accounting firm Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). Her work experience included servicing Fortune 500 clients, predominantly in the healthcare industry. In 2002 she become the Controller for a mid-west multi-store music retail chain, and then managed her own accounting and business consulting practice in Missouri.
Over the span of her long career, Lori has garnered extensive experience in the year-end accounting and professional tax return preparation services for a variety of businesses, large and small. Lori has been a Team Leader in prior industries, including process redesign, employee recognition as well as serving on various corporate and non-profit Boards. She was honored with the prestigious YWCA Woman of Achievement award.
Lori resides with her husband Steve, and have two grown children. Musically, Lori enjoys playing guitar, clarinet and piano. In her spare time she also enjoys biking, hiking, gardening and is an avid reader.
