Lori Gates
Music Retail Accountant
Lori is a music retailing accountant and consultant and the newest addition to the FKCo team. Lori joined FKCo in the fall of 2017 and handles year-end accounting and tax compliance tasks for many of our music retail business clients. She has had a varied accounting career, including over 15 years in the music retailing industry with extensive experience with AIMsi Music Retail Accounting Software.
Lori majored in Accounting and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Drake University. Shortly thereafter, Lori earned her CPA license in 1983 and worked for the international accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers). Her work experience included servicing Fortune 500 clients predominantly in the health care industry. In 2002 she then become the Comptroller for a mid-west multi-store music retail chain, and then managed her own accounting and business consulting practice in Missouri. Lori has extensive financial experience in the year-end accounting and tax return preparation for a variety of businesses, large and small. Lori has been a Team Leader in prior industries, including process redesign, employee recognition as well as serving on various Boards. She was honored as a YWCA Woman of Achievement.
Lori resides in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa with her husband Steve, but travels to CT for tax season. She also plays guitar, clarinet and piano. In her spare time she likes biking, hiking, gardening and is an avid reader. She and her husband have two grown children.
